Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Well yesterday I got home from work. Got changed and went up and offed the offender (my 9 month old SLW roo). Got him plucked and there was maybe 15 min of daylight left. So I grabbed the youngsters and threw them in the big coop. There was a bunch of flapping around and general commotion but no violence. Went to check on everybody bout 45 min later and they are all sleeping peacefully on the roosts. They made it way easier than I did. Although my roo did dress out at 5.5 lbs.

Thanks, Jo turned 2 in December, this is her 4th hatch I think.... I will have to go back through pictures to be sure....

Sorry about loosing a chick, it sucks when it happens....thankfully it seems to be a rare occurence.

Thank you! I hope so, with the cold weather, these chicks have gotten stuck between a crack away from Mama a couple times. It will be much better when she can take them out of the coop.

Thanks, she must be, about getting to point we can mark 20 days on calendar for some of our hens, even in winter. Her mama is the same, often have first pips on day 19 with chicks out on day 20.

My other girls seem to hatch out a day early too. A good broody is worth her weight in gold. :)

So the little Legbar roos is now flockmaster?
I'm sure he was put out when I grabbed him to go to you, but he sure made out well in the end.

He will be flockmaster when all the pecking order lines are redrawn. He went from being master of three to master of nine. I'm sure he'll be happy with that change.

Sweet! Best of Show?! Very nice!! I saw that PA Dept of Ag has come out with a statement about this year's poultry ban. Looks like if there are no new cases in PA, surrounding States and Atlantic Fly Way before June 1st, that they will drop the ban, YAY!! What didn't Montgomery show up for? Avian Bowl? Or Schnecksville?

Has anyone ever found a chicken in their shed? I opened up my shed yesterday late morning and Rhodebar ran out. That little bugger must have snuck in there in the morning and gotten locked in. Silly girl!
