Hello from NEPA.

..Love all the pics of every ones flocks. I currently have 4 buff Orpingtons whom I adore. My family and I were looking to expand our flock. We would like to add silkies and Easter eggers. Would anyone know where I can purchase either of these in my area. I do not wish to order via catalog as many have a minimum of 10 per order. I am hoping to purchase 2 pullets or each. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I hope no one here was in the direct path of any of last night's storms.

Minor flooding here, Creek stayed away from my buildings, basement never got over 5 inches deep. (I consider that nothing major here)

Wow! 5 inches! That seems like so much. We had some reason but not a ton. Mostly winds.

Glad you made out ok... we were missed here other than minor rains. I live on one of the highest ridges in the county, if my place ever floods then you need to call Noah and reserve a spot on the Ark!...now winds, that is a different story...

X2. The wind up here on the ridges can get pretty crazy. There are a few springs around here though and we are in a flat valley just below the ridge (just below being like 50 ft) and there's high ground water here. Our yard gets to be a soppy puddle mess but it slowly runs off the edges and down through the woods. When it's rainy like that, I'm glad we don't have a basement to flood. Every other time though, I miss having one.

Mostly lurk, but popping in to say "Hi" to all the other PA peeps! I can't believe how many of you are so close to the Chester County area. We need a chicken meet-up or something.

We have 8 layers from local breeders in the area, 11 in the basement brooder and hopefully a few eggs to incubate for a spring hatch. We grew out of the first coop shortly after we started keeping chickens. Made over the kids wooden playhouse structure and added that, now dh has a niggling in his ear about a new spring coop that I'm thinking we are needing for all of these chickens!

Chicken math is surely like no other!

AND one of our kids brought in EMU eggs to give a presentation on and then she was selling them!! I know quite a few of the parents in the back were nervous about going home with EMU eggs, but my son had no cash with him (Thank Goodness!) or there would be EMU eggs in my incubator.

Now he knows where to get them when he does have the cash. Never underestimate the determination of a boy . . .
