How does Rural King stack up?

If Tractor Supply and Trader Horn had a baby it would be Rural King...
Prices are decent, some good deals to be found, some are the same as TSC, a lot of outdoor lighting, patio and flower garden decorative items, lots of songbird feed/feeders, surprising amount of clothing in an area you can actually push a cart through (unlike Walmart or TSC)
Good source for basics in electrical, plumbing and automotive...a lot of fencing choices and a ton of dog and cat stuff.
I would much rather spend my time there than any Walmart or mall store, but will still hit up my local Tractor Supply and save the distant Rural King for occasional trips.

They wanted to help you with your chicken math!

Like we need help in that department!

Ok, finally got some pictures...

Molly, she is our hatchery BR, notice the width and blurring of her bars

This is Pebbles, she is from a breeder who shows his BR...notice the dark, tight barring with crisp lines...

Molly (hatchery) on left with Pebbles laying down, you will probably need to view the picture by clicking on it to see it better in a larger view.

Compare the chest views, pic 4/Pebbles to last pic/Molly to really see the difference.

Will edit to label pics, still figuring out new tablet and pics aren't showing yet, just their link

That's awesome! Excellent examples, thanks! Love the other pics too. Always love to see a broody giving her babies love, and that too is too much!

Aurora, loved your photo bomb as well too! :D

Everyone ready for those 60 mile hour winds might want to get some stuff ready for incubators and chicks to keep them warm just incase the power goes out I am going to fill a jar of hot water to set in with mine even though ey don't use the heat lamp anymore but hen they wouldn't have the furnace running so it could be pretty cold in here for them

Seriously, these winds are crazy! It was howling all night here. Not much sleep to be had...

We have an inch of snow on the ground this morning. This isn't right

Wow, OK, now I'm counting my blessings - at least our howling winds were dry. I fretted a lot over night that I didn't do enough to weigh down the hoop houses. After one big gust I decided that the turkey hoop house was likely in the next township. At first light, I headed out to assess the damage and see if anything was still there. They were all ok

This difference between chickens and turkeys was stark this morning. I really blocked out all the wind I could for the chickens, but they were still hunched down and fluffed up in a group. The turkey pen was fully open on 2 sides and wind was swirling through there, but the turkey poults were skulking around looking for food like it was just another day . . .
I think the turkeys liked the wind!

Glad all is well! Turkeys definitely are better in the cold and wind.

no its not...didn't get a wink of sleep last night...winds are as bad as when the hurricanes came through...

:hugs

Because the winds are still so strong, I almost didn't open the pop door. However, the chickens are able to open it, and they know it. So, I opened it and nobody came out. The dog was not done going to the bathroom, so I walked back to the coop and quacked. Don't you know it? Jojo came running out to see me! When I was rescuing the lawn furniture last evening, he was running as fast as he could to keep up with me. He has really imprinted on me! It is quite humorous to see.
