Hi everybody! Would anyone be willing to take of my chickens for a couple months? Of course I am prepared to pay you for your efforts. We are going to sell our home this year, hopefully around summer, and I have to re home my chickens for a while. I wanted to ask here first to see if anyone was willing. I am able to drive up to two hours to transport them to your location. I have 8 hens right now. Thanks!

I haven't posted in awhile but I just had to get on and share my new chooks. 6 black copper maran 2 appenzell and and 2 frizzeled Banty cochins.
 
So here's an updated picture of my pullets. We started out with 21. 5 died as a result of dehydration. I was constantly worried that they weren't getting water out of the nipple water we made with a bottle. I was correct to be worried. If you have never seen a dehydrated chick drink water and then suffer from drinking to much it was horiffic. I actually didn't know what was going on at first and after a ton of search it lead to dehydration. One of the smallest chicks was still hanging on. I feed her with a dropper and made her special mash and cuddled her every hour for several days. She is now doing good and back with the other chicks. She is still smaller than the rest, but is now thriving. We bought 8 more to replace the ones we lost. We now have 24. We know what they all are except 2 of them. Theu were suppose to be light brahmas, but they are not. We think they are Delawares. They are also bigger than the rest. Dont know if its because they are older or breed? The first picture are the older chicks. Second is the suspected Delaware. Third is of the new chicks. I do have a question...when can we put the new chicks with the older ones. The older ones are 2-3 weeks older than the new chicks.

Broody overload -- in addition to the silkies (which seem to go broody whenever the temps are above freezing), I had to pull 3 Cream Legbars and a Welsummer from the breeding pens because they were hogging the nestboxes. I hope they will be easy to break, neither breed is known for their dedication to motherhood.

Peacocks are trying to out do each other with displaying to the hens. They know it's spring!
 
Ya my turkey is feeling a little frisky if u want to call it that and she has been away from the tom for probably about a month and her eggs are still fertile I didn't think they would be so now I have a broody hen setting on those cause those eggs are what I was using to try and get her to go broody so now we will be having some turkeys and then before she bonds wih them I am taking them and putting them in the incubator so I can put my silkie eggs under her

I bet those peacocks are beautiful right now, showing off in the yard. 3 or my 5 nest boxes are full with broody girls. Both SPR girls and one wheaten Marans. They're all due on the same day so this should be interesting lol.

The eggs from you that were delivered through the chicken train go on lockdown tomorrow. I had set 126 eggs (yours plus some of my own). 22 were either clear or blood rings. At least 6 of those were from my eggs though. Not bad for being a delayed setting.
 
We cleaned out both coops today competely. Dug out all the old bedding and replaced it. Has anyone ever used wood chips instead of wood shavings for bedding? They're bigger chunks than the shavings but we got a truckload of them for $34. It was enough to fill both coops.
