Totally normal. They are losing their little fluff and getting their "big girl feathers" No problem! Some chickens do not go through this phase, but a few do. Especially the mutts of the barnyard. One of the chicks (6 weeks old) is pretty much featherless on her back and on the front of her neck, I never see her or anyone else picking at her feathers, but apparently something is going on.
