It's pretty normal for my goats to lounge around in the sun on a day like today. I imagine yours are adjusting right now and settling in, so probably more tired than usual. Are they chewing their cud? That's a good sign.
ETA: a little late for this advice, but keeping them on the same diet as what they had before is important. Gradually change them to something new, if you plan to do so. Free choice baking soda for bloat.
Day 29 for the broody. When she got up today, the egg that I noticed was cracked was empty. She ate it!![]()
No signs of pips for the other ones. I know it's still within normal time frames, but when should I think about pitching the eggs?
What should I look for when candling the eggs under her tonight? Usually it just looks dark with a decent air cell. The cracked one did seem sloshy when I checked last night, but I didn't want to jiggle the others around.
Who's ready to go where?![]()
Look for any internal pips (break will be up in the air cell) and movement. Movement will be hard to see this close to hatch though if they aren't internally pipped yet.
Thanks! I checked them tonight and it looks like maybe three of them pipped internally. Three looked like they had clear air cells, but the other couple looked like something was in the air cell, I couldn't see through it as well. None of the chicken eggs look like they have internally pipped, that I can tell. Fingers crossed!
