The meaties in the tractor

They're looking good and spend a lot of time playing and running around in there.

The garlic is coming in great!

Still waiting on bees to show up

The silkies and showgirls have been loving being outside. They just moved out about 2 weeks ago but just started free ranging the other day.

I think the hardest part of breaking a broody is deciding to do it. Then listening to everyone acting like you're killing her slowly!
I have no trouble breaking broody hens, I just move them to their own private pen with a very nice nest of valuable eggs and she promptly ignores them and stops being broody. Happens every time. Probably if I used mixed breeds that I don't really want, then she would sit on them, but they seem to know if I want them to be broody and do the opposite.

Except for the cochin and silkie bantams, they will sit on anything, hatch it, then let it die under them, they refuse to get up and raise chicks, but they sure like sitting on the eggs.

Last couple days to make plans before the chicken train departs... So far I believe I am picking up some poults from Aurora for Blarney on my way out (@Blarneyeggs
, we need to talk about drop off)... and picking up some chicks from @dheltzel
for @hyzenthlay
on my way back on Tuesday.

Is it too late to get in on some eggs? I live in Lancaster, when/ where do you pass thru? What do you need from me?

How long do fresh eggs keep? Unrefrigerated? Pulled out from under a broody?
I put 10 Coronation Sussex eggs under my broody Orpington (April 1) and found 18 eggs under her today. I actually caught her rolling another hen's new laid egg under her! (And I thought I was a hoarder!)

What eggs are you looking for? Then we can figure out who has them. You are not all that far from me (northern Chester Co.) but I don't know if I would have the eggs you are looking for.

This posting surprised me:

"30 chickens for sale, they are 2 months old, I don't have time for them anymore especially now since they are growing"

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/grd/6080970525.html

what did you expect to happen when you bought 30 baby chicks????

I just agreed to take on 25 RIR pullets that are 2 weeks old from a guy who didnt realize how much work they are. He wants 50 bucks for them. Whats the best age to sell them? I have room (turning porch into brooder) and time. Already have about 50 babies in different brooders lol. Whats 25 more. Still can't believe hubby agreed though

These little guys are set it and forget it. How I started out. Auto everything except add water as needed. Clear dome to watch eggs. Each hatches 7 eggs. How many chicks do you want? So every 24 days you can set more eggs.
Surf on over to http://www.brinsea.com
Click on "Resources" Choose "User Manuals" , select the "Mini Advance". Download PDF for complete specs and instructions.

You can see this bator and download the user manual. This bator isn't made anymore and sells new for 216.00.
I paid less than that for mine but taking a loss on both of them. Note these are the Mini Advances not the Mini II Advances.
If you want to hatch bantams, Brinsea also makes an egg ring that will take 10 eggs that fits in this . However ,when you buy the ring make sure you're buying it for the Mini Advance not the Mini II advance. Seek on eBay.

Best,
Karen

I'm heading out of town in a few hours but I'll check it out over weekend. If you still have one when I get back I'll pm you!
