Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I got it but I thought that it was meant for before and that my phone got it late lol. I'll stick with this guy for now. He's such a big sweetie :) You were right about him liking treats. We cooked up some old eggs yesterday and he was very happy.

Adorable! How old are they now? At the moment, Nikko looks like a hen with the feathers going up the back of her neck (but that could change)

It looks like they hatched May 22nd. I don't care if it's a boy or a girl. I figured a boy since it's the biggest, but that could be due to the difference in type As well I suppose. It's so sweet! At what age have you had success sexing them?

I was thinking they were older lol. Usualy 12-16 weeks is best for sexing. Hens will have a step of feathers going up the balls of their necks to the tips of their heads and will have a light colored edge on the tips of their breast feathers. Tons will be bald, gobble, and have dark tipped breast feathers.

A man with a plan! I love it. I

We've had a Kestral or Cooper's Hawk (maybe sharp shinned?) stalking the birds here, they're small, but so agile, it's scary.

BTW Gorgeous birds! Nice Feather quality, it says a lot about your animal husbandry. I was looking for the 'buttless' bird...I've heard of 'Rumpless' but never buttless

Here's a picture of most of my flock (I have a total of 16). I love my babies and try my best to keep them healthy!

Here are the only 2 that have issues
IMG_1806.jpg

The one on the top is the "buttless" chicken. She had some sort of bad infection from her previous home so we took her in and tried to get her tail feathers to grow back, but it turns out that she doesn't even have a tailbone. We've had her for a year now.

The one on the bottom had issues with our previous rooster over-mating her but he is gone now. The current rooster does mate with her so we keep their time together limited by locking him up for part of the day.

That group is a bunch of sweeties, Brownie raises her chicks to be very people friendly (and to be beggars!) I'm glad he is being good for you.
It is funny how we can see the differences in the chicks depending on the hen that raises them, parentage (genetics) does have some influence but the broody parenting style seems to rule when it comes to begging and willingness to approach people.

@yoopergirl1211 I have a favor to ask you- you mentioned that your customers from work buy your eggs and love them so much that you sometimes run out. So I was wondering if you had any customers that lived over in Harborcreek or North East that would be able to buy our eggs at $3 a dozen? I gathered 6 today and haven't been able to sell any lately so we have over 6 dozen in the fridge now. Some guy was a no-show today so I'm really bummed. I don't know why I have such a hard time selling them.

My farm is on facebook - Salsbury-Smith Farm if anyone would like to look at it and see where I could improve. Thanks!

Trimmed flight feathers today! And made my selection from the wyandottes as to who's showing and who's not. So far it's all pullets because Mississippi literally looks like someone gave a coloring book to a toddler except he's black and white. But we've got some promising girls!

Hey @FluffyButt789 ! I'll ask around for you. I don't really know where most of them live but I can definitely ask. Oh and the FF feed takes about 3 days. Have you ever been to the Waterford flea market on Sunday mornings? It 10 dollars for a table and the place is packed. Its at the drive in movie theater. It might be worth looking in too.
