I haven't noticed more hawks. But now that I think about it, not so many rabbits around. Wonder if that is related.

My lavendars are getting big. I still don't know if they are boys or girls, but two of them are starting to get combs. Does that mean boy? The silvers still look a lot alike but one does have a longer tail. Neither has any comb starting. Boy gets a tail? Fred is going to be a gorgeous roo. But smaller than the others unless he puts on a heck of a growth spurt.

Jaebels is still broody. I don't have a wire cage to use to break her. Is it life threatening if she keeps this up? I really like her a lot and want to do right by her. But no babies.

Those of you that process your own meat birds with a "killing cone" - what do you use for a cone? Husband keeps joking about grabbing one of the construction cones off the highway.

We use stainless cones made for butchering, but many similar shaped items work fine for occasional use. ...highway cones (as your husband already noted,lol).... sheet metal riveted in proper size.... a piece of carpet stapled into shape... and a 2 gallon bleach bottle with the bottom cut out are some simple replacements I've seen used.

Hope you start and dry also. It really started here Saturday. Everything is totally swamped down in town, the creek is overflowing. This was yesterday afternoon (sorry terrible pic)

It's even higher now and right at the edge of people's sheds. Normally, it's only maybe 10 feet across here. They dismissed all the area schools early today due to flooding. This is how the creek usually looks a little further up stream.

See the bridge over the water way in the left? This was yesterday afternoon from the other side of it...

My husband said that the water was just about touching the bridge on his way to work. But so far, everyone is still safe and dry here

Two doors down is a cousin no one talks to. I was told that if I kept my mouth shut about everyone’s animals, I could let mine roam.
Two days ago, the cousin was yelling at the ducks. I just now heard a lot of gunshot. One duck is in my yard. I have to wait until it’s pitch black out to see if my other ducks are alive. They wait that long to go to the coop.
:fl
Obviously I need to keep them penned up again... if they are alive.
I’m just glad I have nine eggs inside. I’ll have to incubate them if I’m minus Pekins.
