I have been thinking. I want to get some turkeys this year. I would like to get them young. Can I put them in with the chickens? I never raised turkeys. So any info will be helpful.

As long as blackhead isn't a problem in your area and you have enough hens for any toms, then you should be ok keeping them in with the chickens.

Don't intrude, but this might help..
I raised turkeys with chickens, actually had my broody raise them...they were good till they got huge, then I separated them...they got a bit too crazy for the girls...it was fun though, they have tons of personality...made it a heavier time for me when processing, but you do what you have to do

I had three poults, six chicks and two ducklings in a brooder together. They were great together.

I have goats due on the 12th, 17th, 22nd and 31st. I'm keeping a clpse watch on the one due on the 12th. She can go any day.

So what do we get when we cross our 6 lb silver pencil rock hens with our 12 lb white rock roosters???

9 lb monster broodies who have taken to raising babies like it was in their genes!

They all sat in separate boxes, but as soon as they were put into the same area after they had their chicks they followed in their mama's footsteps and opted to co-brood the chicks. Guess we should be happy they waited till 8 months to brood instead of 6 months like their moms tended to, lol.

In other news... we had a buff orpington chick who just wasn't growing good in the coop. The broody finally cut them loose at 8 or 9 weeks so we brought in the little one and 2 buddies to keep it company. Of course Mindy has been claimed as favored nurse maid. If she lays down to soak up the sun they are quick to follow....

All 3 were on her back before that 2nd pic, but one hopped off when I was grabbing the camera. Will have to keep it more handy while they are in here.

Right now they are lounging on hubby's chair, good thing I covered it with towels!
