I have heat. I’m grateful, of course, but the delivery guy was as ticked off as I was about the whole thing. Of course I didn’t use the language he did.

Negative 10 to 20 windchill predicted on monday! I think my English Orpington (Thank you Martha---Lady Grey is well loved!) will be fine, but my SLW is choosing to molt now!
Canaries were easier--they always molted in summer and were DONE by fall and never perceptibly lost feathers--other than the feathers on the floor or shade differences if I was color feeding. I guess I should keep the girls "cooped up"?

Ours finally filled in totally in December....
never understood why nature would plan it all this way, but, what do I know...
Maybe has to do with chick-rearing in spring-ish/ summer, then letting it all "out" in fall for the big winter/cold rest????....only issue with that is sometimes the poor late molters are left oven-ready bare in some very cold temps....they look so bad and like they really don't feel well.
When we have late molters I like to add some electrolytes/vitamin into their water, feed extra protein ( meat or beans) & give the affected bird doses of VetRX. All that seems to help things along a bit easier. They don't spend as much time inside the coop huddled in a corner looking like a post-apocalyptic zombie chicken.
We are trying to decide whether or not to keep the birds in on Monday too...I think it will depend on how bad the wind & wind chill is.
They don't usually have issues with being inside.
They don't really care for it, but they deal with it. When it's that cold out w/wind they stay in the coop on their own anyway.
Hope everyone has their snow plows, blowers and shovels all gassed-up and ready to go!!
Would rather keep it all snow..no ice/freezing rain crap. Noone needs the power to go out!

The snowblower is out of commission until I figure out where a dangling wire belongs.
I let the dog inside as I was about to have lunch. I sat down, and noticed a tiny drop of poo on the couch.
I cleaned it up, and began eating. Then the dog moved from where he’d been... the dog had been rolling in liquid poo!!
I put him out, wiped off the worst of it (Thank you, Clorox wipes!), and am doing laundry now.
<sigh> I am tempted to leave the dog in a dog run! Alas, I know I need to bathe him.

Snow is flying here pretty good now. Chickens are in their coop staring out the small coop door...funny, 8 heads jockeying for best position....
Wind has picked up a little too.
Oh ,wait.. is that a plow I hear...holy moley it is!!
First one of the day, this should real interesting how this mess gets handled. When living in the "boonies", you tend to be at the bottom of the "get it done" list.
I realize a lot of you know this all too well also.

Anyone want this dog? Not that I’d do that to him, but he has a wild hair (because God forbid he go after a wild hare like he’s supposed to ) today! After snuggling in my bed for a while, and lots of tummy rubs, I thought he’d forgiven me for the bath!
Then I let him loose to go on a walk before the snow got too deep. He took off into the woods behind the house. After about half an hour, and a phone call, he was finally carried down the backroad, and to the house. All the treats I was giving him weren’t as much fun as dogs that were willing to play with him.
I truly love this dog. He is a good dog for being a newly retired hunter. I must keep telling myself that. I love this dog. I love this dog. I love...

Would be really cool to do something with the pelt, less waste of the troublesome creature, but still beautiful one...

DH is out being an awesome guy..making sure we can get out if we need to.
Thank goodness for mechanical devices when they work!!
Looks like there is already at least 6 inches out there, this storm is moving awfully slow...going to be a real fun morning for us all.
On the positive side...I keep thinking of all the wonderful things Bug & I can make with this wonderful clean slate of snow..a whole herd of UNICORNS!!!
