I would guess quail, whether wild or home-raised, would taste like..quail...I am being extra cheeky this-morning..sorry.
They are tasty, everyone's palate is different, so hard to express taste.
Some people think they are too "gamey". I love pheasant, very mild bird in my opinion, but some think too strong.
I think rabbit tastes a lot like chicken, no seriously..I do, so there you go.
How about this...they taste like "poultry"...huh?..how's that?
They are mostly dark-meat, maybe making their meat just a tad more strong/deep...I don't know how else to explain. I will just let this go & leave it to the experts.

Need to just get dressed and more my tush along, try to get something accomplished today.:old

I'm intrigued. Quail are tiny little birds, aren't they? What made you become obsessed with them? Talk me into it! ;)
I am in the baking and cooking threads, and several people were talking about them. One member mentioned them, and it just zapped me! She made me want quail. A bird I didn’t know a thing about! :lau Obviously I’m still figuring them out!
The clincher was the eggs. Do you want to wait six months for your chickens to lay, or six weeks for your quail to lay?
Need an egg wash for one thing? Quail eggs are the right size. Hard boiled eggs are good, but imagine just popping the whole thing in your mouth, and not getting the crumbly yolk all over.

Thanks for all the info!

Yes I thought about critters chewing through the plastic, but we don't have many critters anyway, and generally keep the doors open during the day so they do help themselves to the chicken food. (I am a big animal lover) We also have birds come in and lay their eggs in our nesting boxes :gig I figure I'll inspect the coop every day for chew marks, and add stones, chicken wire, or other deterrents. I really want the plastic coop because our current wood coop is leaking. At least plastic is easier to seal up! Tired of the mold and dirtiness in our current coop.

Awesome choice!! :highfive:

See now I told you! @FluffyButt789 ...this is just the beginning....

sorry about that..dog just walked across my key board & bam..it was posted..can't even remember what I was going to say...probably a good thing:duc

When it began snowing this morning, I was annoyed. Then it began snowing like crazy!! :rant
is snowing off & on here..big squalls. Lots of wind, not fun. It is cold out there & of course the pups HAVE to go out & chase after the leaves that fly by, pulling me halfway across the yard. Yeah-Yeah...a 5 pound dog can do that when they want to & besides..I handle the two girls so that is 10 pounds pulling me everywhere...
supposed to warm up this weekend, melt everything, make mud & then will most likely freeze back up . It is NOT spring yet folks...we had a hard freeze last year in April, got lucky & it didn't kill off our apple & peach buds. This year isn't going to be any better IMO.:hmm
