Funny. I am with you on FB -- I even take it one step further and have a fake name on FB. Of course I only use FB to look at chicken products and to buy things locally -- I don't use it for social interaction.

My kids are 22 and 26 and neither have their drivers license yet. At least the older one has his permit... This is what I get for teaching them to use public transportation when they were early teens.

Anyway happy faux birthday and I will try to remember to give you some plants in February... or maybe not unless they are indoor plants.
As a teen boy living in the country (way, way out in the country back then), getting your "license" (not adjectives needed, everyone knew what you were talking about) was a rite of passage. More than anything else, it was what made you feel like an adult.

My oldest daughter had no urgency until it became apparent that her younger brother might beat her to it, then she got serious. My sons was driving tractors with heavy farm equipment on the public roads as soon as he turned 14 and got that permit. So passing a driver's license test was gonna be easy for him - a fact not lost on his older sister. Sometimes sibling rivalry can drive behaviors like nothing else in the world.

I try to stay as disconnected from FB as I can. Craigslist is similar, lot of strange people on both -- best to be wary and not reveal too much personal info. This group of people is much different than the FB crowd, more like the people I knew when I participated in the tropical fish clubs, almost an extended family (actually some families may be more like FB, so perhaps that is not a good comparison).

I know of somebody trying to rehome some Muscovies in southern Chester County. So sorry for your loss.💔 I lost one today too, my favorite of the 7-week old hatchlings succumbed to an unidentified respiratory infection that has plagued my flock from day 1. I miss my Wonderful so much!😭💔✝️🌹
oh im so sorry for your loss.. it is so deeply heartbreaking.. hugs to you..

It's not really my birthday. Facebook will not allow you to setup an account without specifying your BD and making it public. I don't trust FB at all and so I lied. Turns out they take anything you give them and accept is as the truth. So whatever FB tells you isn't always the truth.
I would quit FB altogether, but the traffic here is not nearly as good for local sales of chicks, even though FB explicitly prohibits those sales.
My real birthday is in February, a good time when I was a boy, so I could ask for gardening supplies as gifts. I was also one of the first kids in my class to get my driver's license, which was a HUGE deal back then, doesn't seem to be as much now.

Well, here I thought I was enlightening everyone lol. I'll probably do the exact same thing next year when Facebook tells me it's your birthday again lol

Haha, I put a fake birthday on FB too. I usually don't use FB at all, except getting in tough with one old friend who can only find on FB. I have no photo, no post, nothing on my FB page. Do like it at all.

Is little Hershey a splash or blue ameraucana? She has one black wing feather, which you cannot see in the picture. I thought she is splash, but she only has that one black feather and is darker than my splash marans. She would take any chance to sit on my arm and loves to be petted. :loveReally sweet girl! I'm curious how she will look when she grow up.
All these chicks came with running nose and sneezing and still have the symptoms after 3 weeks. It's strange since the hatchery should have strict biosecurity. I'm not sure if they just have cold or some respiration issue.

Blue and splash can be hard to tell apart. Even blue and black can be tricky sometimes, with very dark, unlaced blues looking like blacks.

I only know of a few hatcheries in the entire US that test for MS or MG. These Mycobacterium diseases can be transmitted via the egg from the mother (unlike Marek's), but they are treatable and survivable (also unlike Marek's). No hatcheries that I know of will vaccinate for these because the vaccination can cause positive tests for the disease. and no one wants that. I am not certain it is one of those, but they are respiratory and fairly common. Supposedly, even survivors are always carriers for life. I suspect I had one of these in my turkeys in the past. I treated with antibiotics, but it didn't seem to make much difference. The birds that survived became 100% healthy and never had a relapse. I have not seen similar respiratory illness in years, but if I did, I would tend to just cull the affected bird if possible, as I do believe it is easily feasible to breed for resistance to MS/MG.

Sounds a lot like the mystery respiratory infection I’ve been dealing with in my flock since I started 3 years ago. Hard to tell since mine also have Marek’s. I’ve never been successful in treating it, but Dennis is right, you can definitely breed a resistance to it. My 3rd generation batch is 12 weeks old now, and they are showing a marked improvement in resistance to the infection over their parents and grandparents. Unrelated birds introduced have approximately a 50% survival rate.

Thanks, Dennis. That explained why they are keep sneezing. It looks like all other babies recovered except the little Ameraucana. But she seems getting better too. Hopefully, they will all be ok. Unfortunately, I already brought Sunny to meet them, so Sunny already bought the disease back to the flock. None of the big girls is sneezing though. But poor Dragon is still not doing good. I can feel a tumor on her belly and she has water belly, so she may not survive too long. Marek is really aweful! My Welbar girl Blue Bear is broody now, but she is not very serous and will running around if I take her out.

Dammit dammit dammit. Boo got in the coop last week and got ALL the chickens. So, once the twins are born, priority one is reinforcing the hardware cloth and leveling the run. Maybe make a few modifications to the coop itself. We did want to expand the run also but that may wait until 2022. Then I'll be browsing the forum for what breeds I want to restart with. Dammit dammit dammit. I had just taken 2 of them - one on Saturday and another on Sunday - to the Celtic Fling at Mount Hope to be "Chicken Little". Dammit. Dolly in the tartan
