Gardeningmama: I had the same problem. Searched the Green Dragon website and ended going during the day (on one of their regular Friday Sales) and missing out on the auction ~although there was TONS of other things to look at and shop for. I wish the Website had more Auction information. I wonder if the regular venders are going to be at the Exotics Sale on May 12th ~ FryPie's are HEAVEN.

Oh, and the First Thing To Do (besides get yourself something to eat) is get a NUMBER at the office, so you can bid. There are going to be a lot of us from BYC there, it would be cool if we could meet. I have a BYC sweatshirt that I could wear for easy ID, but it will probably be too warm that day to wear it.

BTW: as your screen name is 'Gardening', I assume you're an avid gardener. What is your favorite plant? Like if you had to move, what would you dig up and move with you?

Charmed: So glad you re-posted Keith's information. I've never sold birds before at auction. I've got too many Bantam Cochin cockerels and I think I'm going to bring one and see what happens.

I'm still building the new run..... what slow going. I fell off the stool I was using for a step ladder yesterday, and as I am afraid of heights, that was almost the end of it for me. BUT... I LOVES my chooks, so back at it! Plus, I made cement this week, me! How empowering. Who knows what I'll be cementing together next. SIL came by last night and showed DH the finer points of handling a gun. I missed my lesson as I was running around after the grands and chatting with my daughter.

Hope everyone enjoys their day!! It's almost planting time here ~I'll be tilling soil and weeding.

I wanna come to Green Dragon but have never been there and have no idea where it is at. I am in York, can anyone give me directions?
Also, I am planning on going to Roots on Tuesday if anyone else is planning to go... Would love to meet some more BYC's chicken crazy people like me!

Blarneyeggs:

No, the market will NOT be open at the Green Dragon Special Sale. The market is strictly on Fridays. The only other booth that will be open is the food stand in the animal auction. Sorry =(

PA ChickenLover:

The address for Green Dragon is 955 North State Street Ephrata, PA 17522. From York, I assume you would take Rte. 30 East towards Philly. This will take you to Rte. 222 North. This will take you to the Ephrata exit. If you have a GPS or MapQuest directions, you should be fine.

The phone number for the auction office is 717-733-2444 is you need to call.

There are several entrances to the market and we plan to have some signs in the parking lot directing people to the auction building.

Hope to see a ton of people there!

Keith

Blarneyeggs,
I did just move, and everyone said that I had to dig everything up, it was so beautiful. So I walked around and around pondering what to dig. In the end I took nothing. I could not bring myself to mess up the beauty of it all. I left it for the next family to appreciate. The two things I would have given just about anything to take were two mature trees I had grown from seedlings taken from my grandmothers tree and my husbands granparents tree. A Mimosa, and an American Redbud. Common trees, but irreplaceable. I still get to see them when I drive by though.
I will sound boring when I say the black eyed susan is my favorite, but you can't beat reliable, beautiful, self seeding, and the beauty of a goldfinch hanging from the branch in fall. I have more of my black eyed susans in friends, families, and even the church's yards than I could count. Gotta Love Em.
I do hope to see many BYC'rs at the Green Dragon Also. I'll be looking.

I am in Jefferson county. Can't believe I just found this thread lol!
