I think , it is a boy and girl, they are at my daughters house, in rowanna (between marietta and bainbridge). we think the big one in front is a female and the smaller one the male, still a little young for me to tell (3 weeks this past sat)
Thanks so much..I'm gonna go get to work. And yes my girls are just beside themselves right now. I told them no promises yet. We will see if an of them survive on there own. And if so we will make sure it is OK to eat the eggs. Thanks so much for your help!!The feed should be okay. Wash the feeder, waterer, and coop really well. I would try to let it dry before the old hen gets back in. I am a more aggressive keeper. I don't like to sacrifice anyone just because it's easy. I have all daughters and they would be devastated if we just slaughtered the girls if they got sick. As far as the dirt pen, rake it out.get the poop and any straw out. And I would still do preventive measures for the older birds. A lil antibiotics in the water just to make sure all the girls are safe.
Goober I am so sorry that you are going through this. I can't imagine the thought of having to cull all the birds. I hope that antibiotics help!!
I had a crazy day myself...I get home from work and see my one pullet hanging upside down on the fence. My first thought was she hung herself, but no she was hanging there by her toe. I released her from the fence and she hobbled away on one leg like nothing happened. A few hours later and she is already using it again. She is very fortunate!!
And... my speckled sussex are finally getting their speckles![]()

The most you can do is try! If you try and it fails, than you know you tried. If you cull/(let your ex whack em) than it is just giving up and being divorced twice, I wouldn't give either of my ex's any pleasure of the sort! Sorry that is just my own twisted take on things. I wish you (and the girls) the best and you have to keep us updated. And I'm sure if bad things happen in the future the clan of twisted chicken lovers in here will rally to get you situated. fyi....I'm a crazy twisted chicken lover too. not the chicken on my shoulder lol. Thanks so much..I'm gonna go get to work.
