I'm not really expecting my girls to lay again until spring. I have some new ones coming up that may lay before then, but with no extra light in the coop...oh well.

i bought chicks earlier this year from them and since i didn't want to have them shipped, i ask if we could drive out and pick them up, she said yes, but when she found out where i was coming from she told me her husband was from about thirty miles away and was coming there the following monday, would i like her husband to bring the chicks to me and me not being stupid said yes lol, he did, really nice man , as is his wife, nelly, and they didn't charge me a penny for gas or bringing them to me. NICE PEOPLE also nice chicks, healthySorry!! We are down to 2 eggs a day!!! The Silkie and the Leghorn.![]()
I ordered some eggs last year from The Fancy Chick in Ohio for the NYD Hatch. Nice people, eggs arrived in one piece.
Cayenne treatment?Just mentioned the new year's hatchalong to DH.
He said sure.
I said are you crazy --hatching over the coldest part of winter?
He said just kidding.
Whew.
Tonite we took excess guineas and roos for processing, trying to cut down on noise and capacity for winter.
2 eggs /day from 20 hens, and those are from this spring's 2 hens. Everyone else is in the last of molt; we will give them another 2 weeks before the cayenne treatment.
I refuse to set eggs until last year's FBCM's mature to POL and give some nice large dark brown and olive eggs to set. I'm thinking about late February.
We will have our retired blue copper marans roo for free once the young black roo takes over. He is 3-- bit old for the stew pot. Good behaviored roo.
