Not everything's a conspiracy. Before you start your own Lone Gunmen blog, it would help to better understand your local, state, and federal government and the roles they are suppose to play. Look up the Posse Comitatus Act and see how it applies to these troops as they work inside of our country.

Yes, that is exactly what I personally expect. Better safe than sorry. Why wait for something to happen before implimenting a plan?

Will read this thread when I get a chance. My first glance though is that a lot of people just don't understand and want to find something sinister behind every tree.

Mac, at first glance you sound like a voice of reason. Thank you.

In no way am I against militarily or my country, I just think the government is getting power hungry. They have staged militarily acts in city's. And Mac correct me if I am wrong, but didnt the constitution state that troops could not enter neighborhoods. I am also just a teen but a little digging shows. The reason we dont know is because they dont want us to. I don't know it worries me somewhat

While I do believe this a good thing, especially the ability to respond to NBC events within our borders, I am concerned about the general perception that the federal government should be a first responder to natural disasters. We cannot let our local and state authorities become complacent in their disaster preparedness duties or come to rely too heavily on federal response. These are states duties. The states need to take care of their own and call upon the feds only in exceptional circumstances.

What military acts are you referring to? I already covered the rest of your question. You need to review the Posse Comitatus Act and also understand the difference between your State Militia and the US Military.

I have worked on military projects within our borders. Using money set aside for the war on drugs, I worked with US military engineer units to beef up sections of wall along the US/Mexico border. In no way did we have any authority whatsoever to detain anybody crossing the border or get involved with any local enforcement. The best we could do was call the Border Patrol or local police. Federal troops are not allowed to police citizens within US borders.

IN 2000 the military did a Training Exercise in a small town in North Carolina, with people they paid to act. But they also detained two Innocent civilians. And in 99' in Kingsville Texas. I cannot recall the name of the town.
