Gee, with a mile long lake, I wouldn't worry at all. Grass makes up most of their diet and surely there is plenty of that. It will take years for them to overpopulate that lake. Some may be lost to predators, but waterfowl will spend nights in or very close to water and are very safe there. Wading birds and turtles are rough on babies in the spring, but probably their biggest danger is car traffic...........Pop
