People of NC...

My poor guys tried staying under the overhang of the coop most of the day.Yet they still got soaked by the end of the day. 3 days ado when there was snow on teh ground they were desperete to keep their feet out of it.They were a little happier today, but it has put a HUGE crink in my egg production!

I was so excited to get snow last weekend, but now I'm sick of this wet, muddy mess. It's snowing right now but not sticking.
I'm also wearing boots. All this snow and rain will turn into a huge mosquito problem this spring.
Sun is supposed to come out tomorrow.

I am so glad it has stopped!
My poor roof sprouted a leak yesterday. Thankfully some nice people from the church up the road came to look at it. Hope our little patch job fixed the problem. I don't know anything about roofing or really what to do!

I am very tired of all the mud! I want to go out a play with my chickens.

Yes it's muddy awful. Anyone interested in a beautiful black Silkie? He's messing with the Mojo!!!!!!!!
My other Roosters all get along, but "Jerry" has decided to screw up our happy, happy habitat.

So, after ANOTHER soaking rain today, now we get to look forward to this tomorrow...

"This will be a truly ferocious wind," WRAL chief meteorologist Greg Fishel said.

Sustained wind speeds will peak during the late morning and afternoon hours on Wednesday, ranging from 25 to 30 mph with damaging gusts of 40 to 50 mph possible.

"We could see gusts between 45 and 55 mph," WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said. The winds are expected to peak from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The strong winds could create danger in the form of falling trees.

"With all the saturated ground, it is quite possible the wind could loosen some root systems and cause some trees and branches to come down,"
WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.

Yes, I'm pretty nervous about this because we're already soaked and I'm surrounded by trees.

I free range my chickens, not sure if they'd be safer in or out! The wind is supposed to come out of the north west, which is better for my
situation, but I'm still scared the trees will fall. I'd rather have the power go out than a tree down here.
Here's hoping we'll all be OK....

And now... MORE snow!

The funny thing is that radar pic in my 1st post updates constantly, so instead of seeing the rain from that day, now you can see the snow from tonight.

It's just beginning to "dry" out here, but the swamps and rivers are still high. It started snowing about 7 pm tonight and we've got about an inch so far. It's caught a lot of folks here off guard even though they called for nearly 100% chance of snow tonight. People are still out trying to driving in it, including my idiot sister in her Focus. She went to town because she wanted to see her boyfriend. Teenagers.

The snow is just starting here... it hasn't even covered the deck yet. We're in the 4-6" forecast now. We'll just have to wait and see what tomorrow looks like.
