People of NC...

Your chickens are better than mine! They live under complete cover. I opened their gate for them to freerange and they wouldn't come out! Here's Willow in the snow though.

We lost power here about 20 mins ago. It flickered off and on about 4 or 5 times, which is normally not a good sign around here. I called and reported it and the electric company said there were a lot of outages. I've got the bator insulated with a blanket and the critters outside are fine. Now, hopefully it will be back on soon. The only vehicle has come by was a DOT snow plow.

Its crazy here!....rain all summer; snow all winter. I have several dogs and have all but given in to never having a clean floor ever again!

Willow is getting big. She's crazy, but learned her manners quickly. She's only 14 weeks and is mega huge. She's all muscle which makes her heavier. Mom made sure the first thing she learned was noooo jumping, noooo roughhousing with the chihuahuas/cats, and NOOOOO stepping on people while sleeping

She's my baby though. The pigeons want to fly soooo badly. They have only been here a week though. Maybe in a week or two I'll let them out for the first time.

Kandace, how are your birds handling the weather?

They are actually doing pretty well. The only ones who have not seen snow before are the Lavenders, which are staying in the barn. The Buffs have not ventured out but are huddling around the coop door waiting for some more to melt. They are big "chickens" when it comes to the snow. The geese are enjoying it.

MORE rain... NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

A cold front will roll into North Carolina Monday, bringing snow to the mountains and rain to central and eastern counties.
The system will drop 2 to 4 inches of snow on the state's highest mountains, then bring rain to the Triangle region around noon. http://www.wral.com/weather/story/7037103/

The sky has clouded over and the sun has disappeared behind a blanket of white and gray.

Look at the ugly radar pic in post #1.

I'd take the rain any day over the snow that we're getting up here in the mountains. I am so sick of this crap. At least I can work in the rain. I can't safely work in most of this snow and ice we have been getting.

I'm sure you are sick of the snow, and especially the ice! One of my facebook friends is a rural carrier in TX and she has had to deal with driving in something like 8+ inches of snow. They rarely get snow, don't you know she is hating it! At least you two have today off.
