People of NC...

The good and the bad...
Unlike the storm on Jan. 29-30, which combined snow, sleet and ice in North Carolina, this round will be all snow, Fishel said.
good
"The difference between this storm and the last one," Maze said, "is that, instead of temperatures plummeting into the 20s while the storm is occurring and staying there, our temperatures will actually warm up Saturday. We'll get into the upper 30s, and we will see melting take place during the day."good

"The moisture is concentrated tonight, and exits stage right tomorrow," Fishel added.good

By Sunday, the weather will clear up in time for another system to move through Monday night into Tuesday morning, which could result in a wintry-mix, Gardner said. BAD!

Been snowing here since about 5:30 already over an inch. Seems to be a regular friday occurance

It started while we were out having dinner and hitting home depot. Hubby will be spending tomorrow on my master closet while child and I build a snowman.

My dreams of spring are wilting fast though....

We've got aout two inches here between Charlotte and Greensboro, can't tell if it's still snowing right now or not. Started about 5:00, and after picking my ds from the fire dept after his shift, it was after sundown and the roads got realy bad REALLY fast! It wouln't have been so bad if I had the van which is all wheel drive, but I had my Mustang, which is rear wheel drive and that was scarey!!!

Everyone please be careful if you have to go out!!

My nephew goes to school in NC....he is less than pleased (like my other southern relatives) because he thought he left that kind of thing behind.

Born and raised here, left and went to of all places, Denver and Balto to live. Came back and got slapped with an ice storm that stayed forever it seemed at the time, but lasted about 6 days with no power, no water and no icy roads.
It's been good until this winter after that, and I am tired of snow and cold. I'm getting too old for this.

This is the sight that greeted us this morning. So far this morning the Java chickens are the only chickens out running around with the turkeys and geese. All the other chickens are in their houses. We probably have 5 to 6 inches on the ground. It looks so pretty covering the trees.

These were taken from inside my house, through the backdoor glass and the storm door glass, this morning. I'm not going outside... none of my winter coats will zip over my belly.

This snow must be very heavy, it really did a number on the bird netting, which is now going to have to be repaired.

The chickens have been busy scratching in the snow.
