people with house chickens

On another note, these two little buggers stayed still long enough for me to catch a moment of adorable-ness :)

Awwww, so fuzzy wuzzy. My house chicken of theday is currently snacking on Frosted Flakes. I know, Iknow, bad parent. But she loves them. Besides Begawky and I havebeen to hell and back together, everything from a two month broody stint on a plastic egg (that I wa s almost positive she was gonna hatch she was so determined to take good care of her "egg") to two lice iinfestations as she is kinda cross beaked, oh and countless other little first time chicken owner scares. Yes Begawky is my first chicken, her and Agnes. But I love Begawky. So named because every little noise makes her say :"BEGAWK, BEGAWK, BOK, BOK, BOK, BEGAWK. What else could I have named her. She named herself. It fits.

last summer....when we actually had sun. I miss sunshine.

I tried to get agood shot of her beak toshow what i mean

What a gorgeous hen! Sounds like she is living quite the awesome life, being all spoiled and whatnot! :D Another ringing endorsement for house chickens!!!

Sunni is really chatty this morning. Do anyone else's chickens get really chattery sometimes? It seems like Sunni is always talking. She is also always preening. That little girl is obsessed with cleaning herself (and her diaper).

You know, it's interesting you should mention that. Phantom (my silkie rooster) typically wanders around making little noises here and there, anywhere from a honk or cluck, to a pterodactyl kind of growl, to what sounds like an imitation of a quiet little tea kettle.

Yesterday, however, there were 4 or 5 times where he'd go into full-on "Bok-Bok-Bok-BokAAAH" mode. Like a noisy hen. He's a weirdo. Haha.

Aside from their "normal" chicken sounds, I have two white cochins that are my pride and joy that talk to me constantly. But they have the tiniest voices that sound like a squeaky frog. Something about these two sisters brings out my maternal instinct and I find myself protecting them and carrying them around more than some of the others. They both will answer me when I ask them questions. And they're so serious about it like they want me to understand what their saying and to do something about it right now. I love bringing these girls in the house. I brave it without a diaper though. . I can usually pick up whatever "drops" relativiely easily with a kleenex. Ihave even taken Hope to Dr. Appointments with me before. In fact we got Kicked out of Walmart last week

What beautiful girls you have there :) They seem to love being talked to, don't they? I'm not ashamed to admit that I enjoy the hell out of the conversations I have with mine :D
