people with house chickens

Ahaha, thank you! I used to collect Arbok (+ Ekans and Seviper.) It got a bit frustrating, since there's not much of him out there that isn't the same ugly mold recast for a new line of whatevers. My desk only has my favorites, there's a whole bundle of stuff in the closet... it's honestly a bit sad. Pepper likes to play Godzilla and terrorize all the toys on the desk, so I'm probably gonna have to move some of the rarer stuff away before she destroys it all
Nothing sad about having that stuff in your closet! I'm in the same boat as you, honestly. The fact that a chick is attacking Godzilla just sounds fabulous and I would love to see that, haha. The only things my ducklings have done so far is attack every stuffed animal I own and give themselves- a mission to poop on every square inch of my house.

I don't have a Godzilla toy sadly. That needs to change, since I'm getting more and more in to the kaiju stuff, and with the new (AMAZING) movie out there should be some nice ones coming out! For now, here she is at 11 days old excitedly pecking the nonsense out of fighting a toy monitor lizard.

Love the pictures everyone! These are our 4 new chicks, Pippa, Pepper, Betty, and Veronica. Pippa and Pepper are about 3 weeks old, the other two are only a few days.

Veronica.

It seems like Veronica is actually a Vinnie! I vent sexed him, and, well, he is most likely a boy! He also has much more tail featherage than the other ones, in fact just from the other day when I got him he got a lot more tail feathers.

My mom is considering keeping Betty inside, she is sooo much smaller than the others.

Congrats on your new chickies. Your going to love them. So you have the new chicks and the older ones you got? How many do u have now?

Hey guys quick ? If my birds eat layer pellets or crumbles and say other foods do they still need grit? I have it all , I'm just curious if pellets are as good as grit. Thanks!

Crumbles are made to be edible without grit from what I understand. Pellets, though, you should provide grit for. They're too whole and need to be ground down in the crop. Grit still needs to be provided if you plan on giving any treats of any sort at all as well! If you're still in doubt, check your feed bag for information, or perhaps run a google search on your specific brand/formula

I would love to keep my chickens inside if my family would let me! As chicks, I would let them run around the kitchen and they'd sit on my brother's lap while he was watching TV. Is there a way to house train them or do they just poop wherever? I saw a picture of a chicken perched on a toilet, but I'm pretty sure someone just placed her there to take a picture rather than her actually using it. Do chickens even have control over their bowels? My dad seems to think they don't even know they're going until they're going.

I have heard of people training them to go in a certain place, but have never attempted it. There are chicken diapers you can buy. You just change them as needed.

Sunni eats pellets, but she doesn't eat grit. She has to eat pellets due to her disability, and I have tried giving her grit on several occasions, but the little rocks get stuck around her windpipe, since she doesnt have a to tongue to guide the grit down. It's overall not a very good situation when I give it to her. But she does fine without the grit. Her crop is empty every morning when she gets up, and her poops are always normal and solid.

I'm not saying your chickens won't need grit if you give them pellets, but Sunni does fine without it. :) So I personally wouldn't be too worried about it.
