One blue one porcelain and one splash:) the most rooish one we most likely will keep because it follows my 22month old and lets him pet him

Sunni's diaper was a bit to big, so we had to do some adjustments to it. Now it actually fits the way it's supposed to, so she hates it. She wouldn't stop trying to walk backwards to get out of it. It'll take some getting used to now. She still isn't sleeping in the house at night just yet. I want her to get used to being inside during the day first before I start having her sleep inside.

For those of you who already have house chickens (or ducks), what time do you put yours to bed? Do they just stay by you on the couch or something until you go to bed, or do you put them in their beds at the time they would go to bed if they were outside? I'm not sure what to do for Sunni. After dinner I usually just sit on the couch and read or surf BYC until bed, so maybe she can just stay on my lap? Her roosting area is all the way upstairs, and I think she would feel nervous being up there alone. She hates it when I leave her.

MsChickenMomma, does she do the thing where she walks backwards and puts her head down and weaves back and forth? That's what Ebony does and she looks like a bumbling idiot.

They get used to it eventually, though. Don't give up hope!

My chooks usually just go to bed whenever the sun goes down. If I keep them up past that time, they (especially Ebony) get really cranky and start grumbling and even biting. You do NOT want to be around Ebony when she's mad! Well, maybe you do.... she's pretty funny when she's mad.

Yes!! That's exactly what she does!! It looks so hilarious! Then when she actually walks forwards she high steps. :lau She spent about 20 minutes walking backwards in circles around my room. Several times she kept bumping into things. Then she would get even more irritated. How long did it take Ebony to get used to her diaper?

I'll have to see how Sunni acts after dark. She already likes to sit on my lap, but chickens always act like completely different birds when the sun goes down.

Yes, exactly! Ebony's diaper is too big, so when she took high steps she used to get her feet caught in her diaper! And them I would have to run over there and help her before she went bouncing and flopping around trying to get it off. Too funny.

Well, one time she was completely used to it and walking around in one day. But as soon as I put it on the next day she started the process all over again. I haven't really tried the diaper much since. Usually I just hold her with a towel under her.
Oh, and here's a tip! If you put her in her diaper, and then put her with other chickens, she will want to "look cool" in front of everyone and eventually she'll start acting normal. Their logic is so funny. That has usually worked for me.

Here is my new Roo, we are trying him out as a house Roo :) No shortage of entertainment with this guy! :lau NEVER have I seen this reaction when I put on the diaper OMG! Need a very appropriate name for this little guy! my little 2 stepping Roo!

Sunni keeps getting her feet caught in hers too. *sigh* And when she gets her feet caught then she stretches it down and slips in off. Usually before I have the chance to run over and stop her. Pinning the elastic bands so they aren't quite as long helped, but she still hooks her toes in it. I'll have to try putting her in the coop with it one and see what she does then. It might be different for her because she doesn't get along with the other chickens so great. We'll see!

When I had Taco in the house in his diaper 24/7 (a serama roo, his GF died and I didn't want him living outside in the winter time alone, he was a great diaper wearer) I always made sure to keep the lights on him AWAKE until I went to bed otherwise he would wake up and start crowing at the crack of dawn and I would have to grab him and snuggle so I could get a few more hours sleep.
I usually put Trina to bed the same time I went to bed, but a lot of the time she would just go sleep when she wanted to on her own. She would cause a ruckus pretty early in the morning though too if she went to sleep to early the night before. A lot of "attention! attention! Give me ATTENTION!!!!" She liked to bite my husband's butt in the morning while we were sleeping
