people with house chickens

Maybe you should get some more diapers so she doesn't have to be in time out :)

I was going to do that, but I can't find a place that makes really good quality diapers that aren't really expensive. Both of the diapers I have ordered didnt fit her right. I had to make tons of modifications to one so that she could at least wear it. The hard thing about ordering them online is that you never know if they'll fit until they get to you. I would just make them myself, but I don't do so well with a sewing machine. :/

Maybe. It's not too big of a deal just having one. Usually if it needs to be washed I wait until after she goes to bed. Then it has the whole night to air dry. But today it was really smelly, and it needed to be washed. It's dry now, so she's sitting on my lap. :)

When we can afford it, I will probably order one of the more expensive adjustable diapers that @MaddiesMum mentioned a while back.

We have house Seramas (4 hens and 2 roosters; which we separate)

The ring leader and absolute ruler of the house is "Django" he is the father to to other roo and 4 of the hens (the other being his "wife") and gets full run of the house day and night while the others go in their cages in the evening, he gets to sleep on the couch under a pillow fort to keep warm.
He's also such a gentlemen, always gives food to the girls, saving none for himself, warns when a bird is outside, finds suitable nesting places, and keeps watch. and he's very personable, follows wherever you go and takes naps with you.

Have any of you ever given your house chickens baths? I gave Sunni one this morning because she was getting pretty smelly. I just put her in the bath tub in about 4-5 inches of water, and wet her down good with a cup and then let her stand in the water for about 10 minutes to hopefully get rid of any smell. I didn't use any soap or anything, because I worried about damaging her feathers.

She liked the bath, and she was making all kinds of happy noises. Until I took her out of the tub. Then she got cold fast and started giving me her little chicken glare. I think she enjoyed the blow dryer though. Her feathers are so smooth and soft now. :love

My Leghorn pullet had a thing about finding wet dirt/mud in the yard. If there was any, she'd find it. SHE LOVED BATHS! Happy little cluck noises, behaved excellently during and after. The complete opposite of what I thought would happen.

Before:
400

After:
400

I don't think you can actually damage their feathers per se, but soap removes the protective oil they coat with. Imho those oils aren't as important for a house chicken, unless she goes outside too because they protect against parasites =)
I had a little cross beak that got lots of baths because she was unable to preen herself so she got pretty stinky. She too was a fan of the blow dryer. She would get all puffed up and lift her wings and tail for me, even sort of rolling over to let the warm air fluff her up! So cute!
