people with house chickens

@PhantomChikkinz , wow is she cute! She looks like she's wearing eyeliner. Adorable.

She definitely does not look like a sebright to me, so I would say she is likely a game bantam. Did you hatch her?
And by the way that d'uccle next to her is so cute! I'm a sucker for d'uccles, even though I've never had one.

This is what a sebright around her age should look like.

Thank you :)

And I'm definitely a big d'uccle fan as well. I have 5 bearded Mille Fleurs in with her (same age - about 5 weeks), and a porcelain d'uccle who lives with Phantom, Polka Dot, and the evil baby frizzle rooster. She's just over 2 months old now.

And I don't know where you got that Sebright picture, but it looks almost exactly like mine a couple weeks ago. Here she is today, she's getting cross-beaked, but is happy and healthy otherwise. She (like Stork Bird) just wants to be on your shoulder as long as you will let her. I'm saying she, because this bird has absolutely NO comb to speak of. Haha.

Oh, and no.. I didn't hatch Stork Bird, but I've had her since she was about 5 days old. When she was a baby, she looked exactly like the Sebright in the face, but had different feathers.

I just looked up sebright pictures and found that one. It might even be your picture, I don't know, haha!
Where did you get Stork? There could've been a mix up where a different breed rooster mated with a sebright hen, or vice versa. Or she could be a different breed altogether.

Hello Everyone,

I have a house chicken named Gabby. I love her dearly. I have come to relieze that there are "others" out there too. I  was thinking that we needed a place to chat. A place that is safe, where we won't be judged that our chickens are sitting on the couch with us eating grapes and NOT wearing a diaper. If you believe like I do, that every chicken deserves the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, even if it's curled up next to the fireplace on a stormy night, or sunbathing  on the patio with the dogs, or maybe napping on the bed with the cats. Well, this might just be the place for you. So welcome....

I made Sunni and I matching scarves. Sunni doesn't like hers, but it looks adorable. Im going to try and get some pictures of her wearing it tomorrow. As soon as I put it on her she starts walking backwards trying to slip her head out of it.

I'm on my phone and am having a hard time responding to this thread... So I hope it goes to the right place! Anyways, I have three house chickens. Tully is blind and has a scissor beak. Cassidy has no feet. Oakley is crippled and cannot walk. Mine each have a pack-n-play that they stay in. Oakley and Tully jump from one to the other and sleep together in one pack-n-play and lay eggs in the other. When I am not at work, Oakley is my constant side kick. I carry her and do everything with her. She is six months old and has not had any depression issues so far, even though she is very disabled. I love my house chickens to death... And look like a crazy lady on Facebook because of my constant chicken posts and pictures!

That's very sweet! Do you have any pictures of them?

I actually got Stork Bird, the Sebright, and the 5 d'uccles from Callahan's general store in Austin. I went there to get ONE d'uccle, and ended up taking home 7 chicks! There were all kinds of chicks there, and they're always really good about getting quality birds, so I'm pretty sure that she's not a mix.. But hey, anything's possible! I think whoever was sorting the babies just but Stork and my Sebright together because they looked so much alike as babies.

Come to think of it, both of my awkward teenagers came from there as well! My frizzle rooster is absolutely gorgeous, as is the porcelain d'uccle. I usually get my birds from Sweet Peeps in Round Rock, but Callahan's is actually a really great place to get them as well.

Here's the two babies, so you can see where the confusion may have come from:

After going through all the pics I can find, Stork sure looks like a pure Modern Game Bantam to me :D
