People with lots of land!

My home is never "Totally" clean and probably never will be, lol. Well unless I win the lottery and hire a wrecking crew. Then again I'd actually have to play to win

Amazing thread. I bow to those who live in such uproar; I could not do it. That is why I only had one child. He is 33 and wonderful, but I could not have done any more.

Being obssessed with having a tidy and clean house.... I have a gardener to help with the outside work... but I mow all the lawns, orchard and chickens paddock, do the flower bed edges, he strims weeds and helps plant and he mows all the outside verges on the lane ....... get some help with the mowing Sharon, it will make a big diffrence to family life and chores.

I love finding out that other people live more like I do. People 'round here - they have little one acre or maybe two acre lots. They always hire yard help and their houses look like they are on display for sale! I walked into one person's house and I was actually appalled.

She has three children. Young children. There was not one piece of art on the fridge, not one handmade "bowl" on a a table. Not one picture of a child anywhere. Five people in the family four chairs around the dining room table. (Except of course for the formal dining room which sat 14.) If the family had walked out that day another family could have walked in with nothing changed.

I can't get yard help much as I would like to. DH insists he do it himself and FIL is always saying "Oh don't worry about it I'll do that!" But he never does. He would freak if we hired some one.......

I just have to really pound into my own head that I am enough. I am good enough, my family is great, my house is my house......

Repeat after me: Those who matter won't mind and those that mind don't matter.

I have WHAT in my yard? :

Thankfully although I am obssessed, perhaps it's because I am the one who has to clean the house, that I am always tidying up after my lot..... but I do have art on the fridge and my boy's homemade bowls are around the kitchen etc (and my office for pens).....I like the house tidy... but not clinically tidy........... never happen with children and animals in the house...

epeating after ya....... Those who matter won't mind, those that do mind don't matter and are not getting through the door anyway......

This sounds like my house. I am constantly outside with the chickens, ducks, pigs, and kids. And of course keeping the dog in the yard. I seriously need a fence.

My garden is twice the sze of last years and my hubby swore he would help with it. hahahahaha Should have known better.

My fridge is cover with the kids artwork as are various surfaces of the house.

I hate house work and with being able to be outside I am really bad about keeping up with it. I am waiting for a rainy day. But it is not raining today so out I go.

i wait all winter for spring and them panic as my to-do list grows but never seems to get anything crossed off. building a new garden and coop this year has put me behind but i did catch up on my transplants and cuttings last week. making a list really helps. i have three. a general list, an indoor / crappy weather list, and an outside list. all prioritized with the most imperitive items at the top.
we yanked all the carpeting a couple of years ago an put in ceramic and laminate flooring. that was a major big time help. concentrating on perenials and skipping alot of the anuals is another help. i use soaker hoses and a basket full of timers so i don't have to worry about watering anything. one thing my dad tought me was that tools are invaluble at saving time. having the right tool is the difference between a project taking all day or being completed in a couple of hours. i have many, many tools and access to an equipment rental inventory for the ones i don't own.

I have WHAT in my yard? :

How do you manage your time?? I feel like I can have a good garden and the yard in decent shape or I can have a clean house. I don't seem to be able to do both!

Me either!! My laundry is always behind, my sink usually has dishes on both sides unless I get a heads-up that company is coming and, what is this "vacuuming" and "dusting" ??? I don't know those.

We have a little over 6 1/2 acres, I do the flower beds and watering (remember, this is Texas in a 2 year drought) and my husband mows the yard which is about 2 acres plus he mows another two or three acres in the pasture to give the grass a fighting chance. This weekend I (as in ME!) have to stain the deck and acid clean the grout in the kitchen and diningroom, plus do all the normal crap and find time to wash the dog.

I can't understand why I don't weigh like two pounds, really....

When we got the chicks my husband asked me, "How are you going to keep up with the chickens and the garden and the house?" ....yes, he still lives but he limps now.

...and for the record I DO spend too much time here!

My dad does most of the outdoor work. He is home 24/7 because he was layed-off from his last job.

He takes care of most of the 9 1/2 acres that our house resides on.
Right now I can hear him mowing the grass around the pond. Hes trying to bring back the garden from last year, but from what I have heard, the Tamatoes are looking sickly from the poor quality of soil that we have down there. The Catnip is going crazy, and the Bell Peppers thrive. My dad is always outside fixing machinery and tending to the landscaping, ect.
My mom has her job outside too- she tends to her rock garden. She is in the process of weeding/putting down mulch. She keeps the first story of the house in order, from vacuuming to painting the walls.
Me and my brother have daily chores. We switch them them on a monthly basis. This month, I have the large job of cleaning the coutertops/washing all dishes.
He has to clean the cat litter boxes, set the table and put away all clean dishes.
Another job that we switch is mowing/weed-wacking. About 2 days ago I mowed the grass around the house.
Upstairs is me and my brothers territory-and its mostly dirty all of the time. I keep the balcony pretty clean, but my brother always manages to make it his personal laundry hamper.

We have some-what of a system at my house. My parents sure make good use of having kids. They always have some sort of job for us to do.

The house is never really clean, but since my parents are pretty tidy people, its close.

My son graduated high school in may of 08 and I still have certificates on the fridge from high school competitions. LOL My house is a mess but everyone who knows me knows that's just the way it is. Don't like it then don't visit me
