People with still airs that dont have A/C

I usually hatch early in the year and we heat with just wood so the temp fluctuates a lot. In the morning the house is cool in the evening its hot and during the night it gets cold so I adjust the temp accordingly. Before I leave for work I turn the bator up by 2 lines almost a quarter turn because I know the house will be cold, when I get home from work I turn it down the same amount because I know the house will be warm in the evening hours before bed I turn it back up again so even though the air in the house varies by sometimes 30 degrees the temp in the incubator keeps amazingly accuate........ I did 2 hatches this way in March and April first hatch was 33 out of 34 and the second was 34 out of 34 fertile eggs hatched.

I have a still air LG (emergency buy) that I'm using as a hatcher. It's fluctuating from 98 at night to 101 during the day... funny thing is that the egg temperature (using a water wiggler) stays around 99 to 100 degrees. Currently the chicks are hatching (I fretted and fretted about this). The incubator is in a room where the air is the most stable, no a/c here either. I don't know if running a fan would help yours or not. Maybe if you elevated the incubator so that it was above the fan or maybe below it but not where the air would be blown directly on it?

Once this staggered hatch I have going is over, I'm not incubating anymore (until the weather cools off). It's too stressful to do in an uncontrolled environment.

I have a forced air in a room with no A/C and I am starting to notice temp. changes from 98-101! Yikes! I am hoping the best for this hatch but not expecting too much as I think the 101 temp fried them maybe. I will be changing the wafer and bringing it into an A/C room for the next hatch. I don't want to mess everything up by moving it right now. I've opened all the windows in the room because I had them closed and now the temp seems to be staying at 99.5. My fingers are crossed for the next 2 weeks. If you had a basement I might try that. All we have is a musty storm cellar which I think would be worse for my bator (no moving air down there) as we have to keep it locked up to prevent critters from getting into it.

I have a homemade Miss Prissy Chic bator with a/c on at all times set at 77 degrees. Even then the temp will rise a bit during the day and cool down a bit in the early evening.

HOWEVER...during the night when the temp outside drops some, the a/c doesn't come on as much and the bator temp goes up...A LOT!!

I even have an overhead fan on in the room at all times to help with even temp and ventilation.

I'm going to order a "proportional thermostat" for my next bator.
"Proportional thermostats regulate the temperature by adjusting the flow of electricity based on the temperature at the probe rather than shutting it off completely. These type thermostats have a much tighter control of temperature, as little as +/- 0.5°F, but they are significantly more expensive that on/off type thermostats. If precision is required then they are worth the investment."

I've got it MUCH more stable now I THINK. It was low this morning, but I readjusted a little and it was at 100.6. Then today while I was at work it got up to 97 outside and was that when I got home, and the incubator was only 101.6. I had flucuations worse than that with my first hatch, and all that went into day 18 hatched except 2. Now I need to check it in the morning, and so long as it's 99.5 or above, I'll go with it.... well heck I aint got no choice lol, my eggs didnt come today so I'm sure they will be here tomorrow.

Unfortunately i do not have a basement. Moving it from the kitchen to the living room though seemed to help for some reason lol. I'll monitor it, and adjust as needed I guess. Sheesh! I'm ready to sell this and buy a Genesis!!

I was trying to save money by not turning on the AC here.....well, the house was about 85 and I noticed the temp in the bator going up quickly. *sigh* so much for saving money as long as I am trying to hatch babies. Oh, mine is a still air LG and as long as the house temp is stable stays perfect....otherwise it goes crazy.

We don't have A/C either, but run the "swamp cooler" aka evaporative cooler most of the day.

Our nights cool down into the 60's, do turn it off at night.

I'm having problems with spiking temps at night!!! This am, my still air LG with 2 OE Crele eggs was at 105. I'm pretty sure they are fried.
