July 8th-

Bandit escaped from her cage and was chased onto the garage by Belial, one of my human aggressive roosters.

July 10th-

After hearing Eclipse make noises of pain and seeing Sparrow peck Eclipse on the head much harder than he needed to, I put him back with the hens. I also saw Sparrow grab Penguin's feathers and attempt to mate with her, but since he wasn't on top of her he just mated with the ground...
When I let out the hens to free range, I also let out the chicks, so Sparrow joins them. The current ranking of the chick flock is (highest ranking to lowest ranking): Mico, Sparrow, Eclipse. In the mixed flock it's: Popcorn, Olive, Bandit.

Penguin. Her lacing has really improved as she has grown.

Sparrow. As you can see, I switched the leg band from Eclipse to him.

Eclipse, who I've been jokingly calling "Bald Head".

As I went outside just now, Eclipse decided to join Sparrow in the Pecks Shoes club. Mico is officially my favorite in this group.
Is it just me, or does anyone else have bad luck with OEGB roosters? All of mine so far (I've had six) have either been aggressive or went through an aggressive phase. I really hope that one or both of them get through it, or I'll have to get another OEGB for the project. :/

Personally, my OEGB cockerels have been nothing but fantastic. They are highly intelligent and respond well to my methods of raising them.

Neat project you have going. I am doing something similar with a line-bred strain of OEGBs and one d'Anvers cross with superior winter hardiness.

My first OEGB roo attacked anyone he saw on sight; but I had him before I really knew how to handle roosters, so that might have been part of it. My second one was great with me, but reportedly attacked a visitor. My third one pecked my hand when he was about 10-12 weeks old, and was quickly put in his place and quit doing it. Unfortunately, he died a little while later, so I don't know how he would've ended up. My fourth one, Ares, went through a short phase where he would peck my fingers, but only if they were right in his face. He stopped after that and never was aggressive again.

Sounds like a neat project! I'm assuming your goals are birds with cold hardiness and OEGB traits?

Yes. I would also like a cushion comb and superior resistance to parasites. I need to get updated pictures—I have shuffled the pens around a bit.
