theres that kind, or a hard coated plastic coating with the impression and print of real wood, but it's not real wood. This is what the OP is referring to. It holds up good, but looks cheap, and cannot be used in really wet areas like a bathroom.
They come in planks and snap-lock together with matching toung and groves on the ends and sides. The floor floats allowing for expansion and contraction of the materials. You have to put down a vapor barrior and or a thin pad depending on the floor, some come with a pre-attached pad. It's great for a do-it- yourself project and you can put a floor down in no time at all vs real hardwood.
