Perhaps she just takes after my side - Barred Rock gender question

Well I guess it must depend on the bloodline you get. I bought some eggs off of ebay. Ended up with 3 BR chicks with very prominate head spots, they also had the dark splash down the front of the legs.

They ended up being pullets. Thank-God. I thought for awhile I had little roos.

To a degree, that's very true. I hear that show quality BRs are much less likely to have the dark wash down the leg fronts. One of my own hens was thought to be a cockerel for weeks and weeks. She had all the classic signs and even fooled some of the experienced BYCers-huge headspot, much lighter down, almost no dark down the leg fronts. Some of her own kiddos have been a bit confusing as well.​
