Hi Friends,
with the weather being so wet here, a fly problem has developed in and around the duck house.
Even though all of the duckies have passed their master's degree in fly-catching they can't keep up with the flies anymore, so i wonder how we can get rid of the swarms in a safe way. I tried those glue traps and they turned from yellowish to black in just five minutes and there were still thousands of black flies swarming around.
What about Permethrin? Is it safe to use around laying ducks? -
Meaning: When the flies die and fall to the floor the duckies will eat them and it wonder if that could harm the ducks? - I know that pyrethroids are for example toxic to cats. Will some of that stuff ends up in the eggs? We got poisoned in the past by refrigerants and black mold and i don't want to add something additional to that.
Is there anything else that would help against swarms of black flies?
