Welcome to BYC! Did you make a fresh batch to spray them?I’ve been dealing with mites this winter using permethrin 10%. I dipped my hens yesterday and when I went to put them in the brooder to stay warm (like I said, it’s winter, need to keep them warm) they were still covered in live mites.
How long does permethrin take to work? The first time it seemed almost instant, this time around I have live mites hours later.

Welcome! once you dilute it into your sprayer, it lasts maybe a week. ALSO, that little bottle of concentrate will age out. Mine darkened in color after two years in a cabinet, and was much less effective. I bought new this summer, and it's working fine.
I called Gordon's help line, and the nice person waffled around a bit about product longevity. If yours is older, buy new. The 8 ounce bottle is pretty cheap anyway.

What dilution ratio are you using? Thanks Mary. I use a fresh batch with each application and I purchased the bottle in September. So it’s not old at all.
I’ll check the girls tonight to see if any mites are alive.
Anyone have experience with permethrin not working? Or loosing effectiveness?
.64 oz to a gallon of water. A couple ml more, just to be sure. What dilution ratio are you using?
You could try a higher dose..64 oz to a gallon of water. A couple ml more, just to be sure.
