Permethrin spray

Pics
I know this is an old thread, but I've read with great interest. Would love to spray with permethrin, but can't find it available here in the UK. I am looking at a liquid "Professional Fly Killer" and wondering if it would do the same job - label says...

"Ready for use Fly Spray. Can be used to control Flies, Moths, Mosquitoes, Ants, Mites, Lice etc. 0.25% Permethrin, 0.125% Tetramethrin, 0.75% Piperonyl Butoxide"

Can anyone advise? There seems to be hardly anything available here in the UK apart from DE based powders. I can get a permethrin dust (Not licenced for poultry, but I can get/use it) but a liquid applied with a sprayer looks a much easier/better option.

Any ideas?
What bug are you trying to kill?
Not sure about those 2 other chemicals.

Anyone else in the UK who can recommend a product to use on the birds?
Might try here, tho it looks kinda dead.

Maybe @sumi or @Yorkshire Coop knows of another chat thread that is more active?

I have red mites in one of my coops. I was aware they were there, painted the whole coop with creocote (a less toxic version of creosote as we can't buy that anymore) and treated the birds with DE. I thought they were gone, but they're back (probably the warmer weather). I'm looking for a solution...what do other people use?

Yes - I can get an Ant killer dust, which is 0.5% permethrin

I have used this on my birds in the past despite it not being licenced for poultry in the uk. It's just so messy and I'd need a lot to treat my coops...

More active UK thread here ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/uk-member-please-say-hi.655508/

For red mite I use this in the Coop ~ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Net-Tex-Total-Liquid-Concentrate/dp/B003L6I7GO

Change bedding and spray at least every 3 days to kill any eggs that have hatched. As red mite don’t actually live on the birds and only come out to feed on them on a night I tend to concentrate on my coops more. But I do apply pigeon drops to my birds intermittently (it’s not licensed for poultry but a vet friend of mine says it’s ok) ~ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amazing-Animal-Harkers-Harka-mectin-5ml/dp/B00189JPOO

I too have never been able to find a permethrin spray to actually put on the birds as I believe here in the UK it’s not permitted by the government bodies etc. All permethrin products here state do not apply directly. But I tend to think they can get the powder version on their legs etc from the bedding so how can it be so different??

Thanks - that helps. Do you know what the active ingredients are in the total mite kill concentrate?

I have also used the pigeon ivermectin in the past - so that's another option - everything is so expensive here in the UK though! Makes chicken keeping far from economical...
