I have a young laying chicken that I rescued approximately 3 weeks ago and I cannot figure out what is going on with her bottom. She had clearly been on the run for a little while when we acquired her; missing feathers, very skinny, raw rear end. I have her quarantined in her own area, dewormed her, given her epsom salt baths, treated her for vent gleet with Nystatin and now clotrimazole, have ACV in her water... but still this red raw butt persists, she is still stinky (not as bad but still smells sour) and I cannot figure out what is going on or what to do next.
Soon the nights will start getting cold in northern Minnesota and I need to get her integrated with the rest of my flock.... but I don't want to risk the health of my other girls if this is something contagious. I also can't feasibly keep giving her baths every day. Help!
