Pet peeve - Ratchet straps. I don't have a problem getting them threaded and tightened but getting them to loosen drives me nuts. Just used my kitchen shears to cut through the last pair of straps. Give me good rope and reliable knots any day.

I keep a utility knife on hand in the truck for just such occasions
And I buy the straps in multi packs as I know they won't be around long.
