Pet Peeves

You didn't go back far enough. There was discussion about a white flag out the window to signal an emergency so other cars would move over and let you through. Also, flashing lights so they would see you coming.
Gotcha. I've never heard of the white flag thing or any standard way of communicating to drivers that you've got something going on that they need to move over for.

I had a blowout on a steer tire once, and everyone sort of, ya know, moved.

I have heard of putting something white on your car as a sign that you'll come back for it... When it's broken on the side of the road.

I once had a uni-belt slip on my Jeep, and lost my power steering, and had steam coming out of my hood. People did not move for me. Some douchebag paced me so I couldn't pull over..... I think they found my screaming of profanity regarding them and the world at large funny, and waited on purpose.

That's what it means in metric too

@BigBlueHen53 idk if the angry was at me or the person whom paced me, but the incident happened like 16 years ago, in a not particularly good part of Sacramento, CA. That is just how people there are.

Not that I can promise I won't panic and scream profanity when I'm panicking and think my car might explode now... But the people where I live would pull over and help me.

That must have been not only frustrating, but probably more than a little terrifying. I just can't understand why anyone would delberately endanger you like that instead of trying to help you. I'm glad you survived it. :hugs
