Feeding chickens crickets is a real hoot! Couple weeks ago I fed about a hundred to my barred rocks. The last cricket in the box jumped onto my shirt and began crawling up my chest running for it's life. I WAS FLOGGED BY THREE HENS AND ONE ROOSTER!

Way WAAAAAY too many dogs there to take a chicken, at least at mine. I probably saw 7+ dogs in the store. Someone had a gorgeous red, blue, yellow & green macaw there.

He was pretty!

The girl did do a double take when I said that the crickets were for my chickens.

I love the "you've got whaaaa...?" response, which is usually followed by "Where do you live". They're thinking "boondocks" and I tell them "about 3 miles away from here on a regular city lot". Blows people's minds to find out you've got chickens in the city.

I think taking a chicken in a carrier would be a great educational experience. My banty cochin could handle it. I think she's too dumb to freak out about stuff, plus she's teensy & easy to handle. People wouldn't recognize her as a chicken.
