Phaedra's happy mini flocks

Still two small pallets and some other materials left, so this morning I built another simple sheltered sandbath area for big girl flock.

For another flock, as baby chicks are already quite big, I let them start living with all other aunties together for sometime, till 3 cockerels have to go to their bachelor's pen.

This flock has a bigger sandbath hut :D

A whole new day! From today there will be no rain, hew~~I really need some dry and hot days. When the temperature in such a summer time stays about 18~20 degree C, some warmth-loving plants really had a hard time, even I planted them in the greenhouse.

Today's mission is to trim the flight feather of those no-longer-baby-chicks. One of them flied onto the chicken food tower yesterday and fully destroyed whatever on it. It's about 120 or 140cm, a bit more effort they can escape from the run

But breakfast first, one apple (apple is really cost effective here, and I got them for 50% off from the supermarket, they are totally fine to eat), veggie peels I kept yesterday from making meal.

Sometime I have a funny feeling --> I am stealing food for our compost bin, yes, another group of pets, and giving them to the chickens :p

Homegrown cooked potatoes and green beans, fried eggs.

A bit commercial feed and dried mini shrimps

Today's special

Big girls

No-longer-baby-chicks, as they are so concentrated in eating, I can easily sit by them and trim the feather very quickly.

After breakfast, these two ladies are sent to help me put down some high grass :D

Baby chicks will be 8 weeks old tomorrow, and Mama hen already returned to her flock. Today I saw her pecking baby chicks, well, a bit sad but it's time.

I also saw her going into nest box yesterday and after 4 months (got broody, hatched and raised chicks), today she lays again.

Today I also started giving them fermented feed, together with fresh ingredients, well, no problem at all, all enjoy.

Harvested some veggies for ourselves.

And some commercial feed, dried oregano leaves

This weekend the temperature is more like summer, so, I prepare some ice treats for them - frozen blueberries and strawberries (from supermarket) and their juice on the bottom, one small banana sliced into 6 portions - then put into freezer.

Meanwhile, preparing some Chamomile tea, tea bags into cold water for few hours

The bottom layer is frozen, cut some mint and fill with Chamomile tea, send back into freezer again.

Now the Chamomile in the tea bags are fully soaked, can be planted any time :D
