Unfortunately, that happens sometimes when raising pheasants.Unplanned pheasant processing today….cockbird finally killed the hen
We found her before she expired so at least she won’t go to waste

Definitely some interesting and diverse coloring! I can’t wait to see how they color out!Been hatching out mainly Yellow Goldens, trying to see if I get anymore of the mutations I got last year from the same parent stock.

The base of the neck feathers are orange in color, not the greenish brown of a 'normal' Yellow Golden. Also the yellow back and saddle feathers only go half way up the back? Hasn't gotten any cape feathers yet but right now it seems they might be white when they come in.
Here's a pic of its sibling, same age, same parent stock. See the differences!

Also have been hatching out Peach Goldens, getting some funny colors from them too!!?
They should be a light grey color with faint to no stripes. I can't explain these colors either, except eventhough the parent stock looks 'pure' they may be Peach splash or ?, it's possible to get a splash from what looks like pure stock...the dark one has me really puzzled!View attachment 3137070

Any thoughts or comments on the Peach chicks would be appreciated.
I had a chicken egg blow up last night. I didn't have time to clean the incubator before I left this morning, so all of those eggs are probably going to be a bust.I pulled over half the eggs as clears last night……and 1 blew up while I was gone
Luckily it wasn’t overly stinky![]()
