pheasant eggs

2nd chick is out with some assistance from my wife. It was trying to zip the egg for almost 36 hours and we got worried because the other egg hatched no problem. There shells seem thicker than a chickens, I do not know if that is normal. I will post pics tonight.

Sorry for the delayed response Hawgon. My laptop ended up getting left behind in NY.

Glad to hear your hatch went as well as expected and you are enjoying your hatch

. As for feed, since they don't eat volumes of food, I usually use Pro Manna Gamebird and Showbird starter crumbles. They do well. I have to agree, these little ones are like wound-up spring toys. I had to bator hatch the ones I did knowing I would be bound for NY and if I wanted to be around for the hatch I was going to have to do it that way. When I left I noticed I had another hen sitting. They hatched out over the weekend, in between hay baling.

2nd chick had curled toes pretty bad and he/she could hardly stand up so we used the sticky parts of band-aids to spread the toes out and left it for 24 hours. When we checked the next day his toes were back where they should be! He does have a little wiggle in his outside toe but he gets around great now. The lady I hatched them for is picking them up on Thursday or Friday of this week. Kinda sad to see them go but got some Serama eggs ready to hatch in 5 days so time to move on to the next ones. They seem to be doing ok on the un-medicated chick starter. Lots, lots and lots of poop. Did I mention they poop alot. Thanks for getting back to me and checking in. I have the webcam up at www.ustream.tv hawgon
