PHILIPPINES BYC GROUP

you could make the little guy a pet chicken

there are people who do have house chickens

they make up chicken diapers so there isn't any poop on the floor

I like that idea. This little guy would definitely stay with me regardless of its gender.

Another pic of him watching over the other chicks

does the red pullet have any comb?

She is probably polish/RIR with a NH dad. She should be a good layer.

Yup she has a rose comb I think, the other mixed breed is a roo and also has crown feather and a rose comb too.

Btw @ozexpat White leghorn also blue legged? My other white leghorn chick is blue legged.

white leghorn should have yellow legs, I an asking my staff to look at coop to see if we added a white orpington or bresse during the last sort.

Thats what I thought,
I cannot wait to see this chick grow, I am curious to see white chick with blue legs. I will post pic here as the chick grow. I am not familiar with bresse though.

My white chick has pink legs. Will it become yellow as he grows older? Or maybe he isn't a leghorn after all?

The roo that caused the leghorn with blue legs was in fact a white bresse.

I just had him evicted from the coop. Fortunately I did not sell any leghorns during the past 8 weeks - just the freebies you guys got.

I will include the "leghorn with blue legs" in the mixed breed birds.

Unless you are going for a leghorn, the cross should be a heavier super egg layer.

Regardless of the breed I am fine with mixed breed. They have great personality and have a combination of unique colors. I love the rose comb of my mixed breed.

I will name my leghorn/ bresse chick "Blesse". :jumpy

I am researching alternative feed for poultry and livestock. I just found that Madre de Agua a some kind of tree also good as animal feed. I gathered some picture so that I could check inthe woods near our house if theres some growing. Just like the previous searched on the web I saw the Noni plant which they said a good medicinal plant. The Noni plant looks familiar and later I found some growing in the woods near the creek. So this time, as I continue to research about Madre de Agua.

I found this interesting articles about Madre de Cacao which is endemic in our country:

Madre de Cacao can be used as fence, insecticide, rat poison and it also fixes nitrogen in the soil.
