Phoenix babies....guess their sex?

I had four and thought for sure it was three cockerel, one pullet but that one fooled me. They were all roos. Sometimes they just develop slower.

The more I see the pictures, the more I'm thinking two cockerels 1 pullet. And not sure on the pullet.

I should be a politician, I am slowly pulling people to my way of thinking!

Well debates aside ...I have no doubt that the little Roo is actually a Roo (or cockerel if you prefer). And a very enthusiastic one at that. He is now has a bright red huge comb for his little head and bright red wattles. And he is trying to crow. He's very cocky. I'm surprised at the crowing cause I thought that came a few months later.

I'm also pretty convinced that the other are hens. Their feathers are the same-their wattles are pale and even though is a little bigger it is not red by any means.

My last set of chicks were a mix of Jersey Giants and Marans---they peeped until they around 4 months old or later. These Phoenix babies have already stopped peeping. Mr Roo tries to crow and the hens are making a "trill" type noise.
