Phoenix breeders

Wow, this is going to take getting used to. We own high end show horses, and everyone breeds to what the judge will pin to win the class. The breed standard isn't even considered! I have friends in the TB business, and breeders focus on breeding what will bring big $ at the sales, not what will win on the track. Very strange how different it is.

What will a high end bird cost? Can we compare some breeds?

Sorry, I think I may have derailed your question there a little bit. If you are wanting to get a good start in a breed a show can be a great way to go. Most of my starts in my other breeds came from a show I like to go to that usually has some really good breeders there. I have and would expect to pay $100 for a good pair to start with. They can go up from there but most GOOD birds will start there.. I only go to three shows a year here in Missouri but that is what we expect around here..

I enjoy the wanderings of a thread, so don't feel like you offended by "derailing!" I think $100 is very reasonable to pay for a quality pair, and in fact thought it would be closer to $500 to $1000.

depends on whos you get, some are. There's one I know of who sells just his eggs at $100 a dozen, but he has the lines to back it up too, and will even then only part with just a small select few.

Cy's are usually $100 each regardless of color in his bantams, not sure about his standards, never asked about them when I talk to him.

I only sell eggs or chicks though.
Try to keep back all the ones I personally raise for myself and the various breeding projects.

Should have lots of the normal stuff and some rare colors too next spring if interested.
