The eyes? Those were a joke

Oh..
His face is nice and sharp overall. I think what's bugging me is the DOF is so shallow that it immediately falls off into soft fuzziness away from the face and seems unnatural to my eye. And his body dominating the whole lower left quadrant unbalances the image a bit.

It's little things that add up for me. You mileage may vary (and that's totally OK)

The shadows don't bug me so much. The forward focus and the white light in the background are more distracting.
This? That’s his tail feather

Im really not a fan of how the light is coming in through netting and making the same pattern on the rooster:hmm
I didn't notice the shadows at first until you pointed them out. His eyes bother me more. The pupils are too thin to me, so it's just slightly throwing me off a little. Now that I see the shadows, the shadows on his head bothers me more than the ones on his hackles. I love the dark background though. How'd you do that? :P

Yeah, he has ocular mareks.

I have a small coop for broodies and he was in it. This picture was taken in it too.

Backlit. You can maybe tweak your brightness and contrast to help, depending on what software you have available. A dehazing pass would also help. Face is a little soft, your sharpest focal point is the ear on the left of the image.

I agree.
However, the slight haziness and the rim lighting give it quite an artistic feel to me and I like that. Thoughts?

Better? I can't really dehaze it.
