Got good focus on some hay. :lau
Not sure which point and shoot you have but you can likely change the AF selection zone from the entire viewfinder to a small cluster in the middle of the viewfinder. This will increase focus accuracy tremendously. No matter what camera I use, I always use the smallest AF point that's feasible for what I'm trying to shoot. Most cameras will mess things up if you give them free reign to choose what's in focus....
