That's too bad. I'd say that first Buff Orpington picture is the best, if it wasn't for it being out of focus. The last picture with the Buff Brahma is another good one, if only the feet wasn't cut off.

Got good focus on some hay.

Maybe you should change the birds that you're taking the pictures of. The Buff color is probably blending too much and confusing the auto focus. Try something like a black chicken. I'd say blue would look the best. No guarantee that the color change would work, I'm just suggesting that because I've had troubles with birds who's colors were too similar to the surroundings.
