I believe we are about the same distance away from the Antarctic than you are from the Arctic

Maybe, but I think you're closer. I go on lakes and don't see snowy mountains in the distance. Maybe a mountain, but not a snowy one.

There are mountains on the equator that get snow... doesn't mean they are close to the arctic....

Maine is about 45 deg latitude..... same as where I live

It snows in the equator? Wow, I never knew that! That's cool! Ok. Maybe the southern end is different on geography. I don't know of anywhere in Maine that looks like that.

Wyoming which is farther south than Maine but Maine is near the ocean and Wyoming isn't. Besides our mountains are higher than yours.
