Actually, we use a much much much lower iso if using a tripod for a night scene. Higher iso = noise.

Get the basics down and I will show those of you with manual adjustments a cheat we use to make exposure adjustments in a big hurry using iso

Nope, that's the color of the sky. And it was shot hand-held. I have done nothing to the images as far as retouching goes. It appears as shot.

I've never had the chance to shoot a sky like that before or since. It was just breathtaking.

This is such an important lesson and can totally make a pic... though, I still don't quite get it. I worked on ISO (light senstivity) and I found that if I reduced light sensitivity it can help on a bright day and if I increased, it can help when there is less natural light... and that's about all I learned

F stops blow my mind, man

Anyway, here's what I got

#1 exposure: 1/4000 and F/7.1

#2 exposure: 1/2500 and F/14

#3 exposure: 1/800 and F/13

#4 exposure: 1/250 and F/10

I can see #3 is the best one but, can someone tell me why and what I could've done to improve it. Thanks.. I thought posting all of the different shots and their different exposure times could help others.

HOPEFULLY IM NOT TO LATE. I READ ALL THE OTHER POSTS(LOTS OF INFO). SO HER ARE MY SKY PICS BOTH TAKEN AT 3 O'CLOCK PM WITH A KODAK EASYSHARE C160 EXPOSURE COMP PLUS 3.0 AUTO FOCUS AND FLASH. DONT BE SCARED TO COMMENT I TAKE IT AS I GO. DID TAKE PHOTOGRAPHY IN HIGHSCHOOL BUT THAT WAS ALMOST 10 YEARS AGO.

you really captured the blue in the first photograph. Mine look washed out in comparison.

Erin, on #3 it looks like the clouds let a bit of light in that wasnt there (on the corn) Next time, select a shutter speed of say 1/250 and only change the aperature and post what you get. Try tleast a 3 stop changes above and below the base exposure, with an iso setting 200 or 400.

Fourpawz, beautiful capture, I would love to see a full rez of that image.

The light sucked for me most of the day yesterday in NY. Today looked pretty good out, I spotted this cloud on teh way home and had to grab a pic of it LOL.
