Hello everyone
frow.gif
We've had such a great turn out on the photography thread, a few of us thought it would be fun to have a class right here on BYC that will help strengthen our ability to use our cameras and take better pictures.

We will focus on things like:

1) Principles of Digital Photography and Digital Processes.
2) Camera Operation.
3) Composition & Framing.
4) Principles of Lighting.
6) Depth of Field and Shutter Speed.
7) ISO and Aperture
8) Using the Manual Mode
9) When to Use Which Lens

We are still on the hunt for a few teachers to take turns giving the lessons. I think having a few will lesson the load and could offer more than one perspective. If you're interested, please feel free to post here. If you're interested in learning, there really isn't any rules... come in when you want. The lessons will be posted by the teachers and we will have a week or so to chat, take pics, post them and wait for critique once everyone has posted.

Hopefully, this will help all of us strengthen our skills.

Love the idea!

I'm by no means a professional, but I do know a bit about macro, black and white, lighting, and photography of birds. I could probably help out with some of the topics you have listed as well. Keep me updated and let me know if I can help!

I just thought of something else that might be nice to teach, possibly as one of the first few lessons. Positioning of the subject and rule of thirds. I went to a seminar about this and it was sooo helpful. Really helped me to focus more on where I put the subject in the frame to draw the most attention to it.

Ok. FourPawz and ChickenWhisperer are our first teachers.

Chickenwhisperer admits to being self taught but so are many photographers I know. We can take advantage of what these folks have to offer, I am sure.

Let's start thinking of our first lesson... Teachers, maybe pm eachother and put together something. Let's try to keep it simple for a while. And, try to explain in detail what you expect of us.

I'd like a couple more teachers to step up but, that can be down the road a bit... just don't want our gracious volunteers to feel too obligated... we can even swap new ones in and give them a rest at some point

eta: chickerdoodle, you are in!

maybe you guys should get eachother's emails and communicate that way so you can address eachother with one email.. just a thought. Trying to make it easy... maybe designate a lesson or alternate weeks or something
